This is a great video from the Help Desk where Kathy teaches us how to tie up loose ends in patient management and documentation when the patient has not finished their active treatment. The patient seemingly dropped out of care without communicating the reason for doing so. We use the term Administrative Discharge when closing out a treatment plan that differs from a regular patient discharge. When the patient consistently and consecutively misses appointments, it puts both the patient and the case itself at risk for problems. This is good motivation to show care and concern for the well-being of the patient, and the opportunity to learn how to document an Administrative Discharge.
